F.A.Q. What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine emphasizes preventing disease, encouraging the body’s inherent healing ability, treating the whole person and educating patients to be partners in their own health care. While firmly science-based, modern naturopathic medicine also preserves the century-old wisdom of successful natural therapies.

F.A.Q. What kind of health concerns can be covered virtually?

We can discuss common ailments like allergies, digestive complaints and hormonal issues. This format also works well for medication updates, blood pressure and diabetes as well.  If you have a concern that really does need a physical exam to provide better diagnosis or treatment, our teams will refer you to a clinic who can do in-person visits. 

F.A.Q. How long will a Virtual Visit be?

Expect about 45-60 minutes if you are returning patient and about 75-90 minutes for new patients.   

F.A.Q. Will you be able to prescribe medication/herbal remedies?

Yes.  All prescriptions will either be sent to a pharmacy electronically or sent to our in-house dispensary, who can mail them to you.  Alternatively, you can use our online dispensary Wellevate to order your supplements. 

F.A.Q. What will a Virtual Visit be like?

Team Care:

Your Virtual Visit will be very similar to your visits in-person.  You will receive a link in a MyChart message from your provider that you will click on a few minutes before your appointment time.  It will take you to your virtual waiting room. Your care team of students will then join you to review your needs and symptoms and create a treatment plan. 

Private Practice:

Your Virtual Visit will be very similar to your visits in-person.  If you see a provider in our private practice, log into MyChart 30 minutes before your visit time to complete the e-check in process.  Select appointments from the MyChart menu screen and then that day’s appointment and follow the prompts for e-check in. Once check-in is complete, you will be able to click the link to join the telehealth visit and wait for your provider to enter the virtual visit.

Bastyr Center is the teaching clinic of Bastyr University, a leading institution of natural medicine. We provide a Team Care approach that involves one licensed, experienced practitioner and two or three advanced student clinicians, all invested in the outcome of your care. Our teams become partners in your health care, working together with you to discover your own unique route to wellness. If you prefer to see a licensed clinician one-on-one, appointments also are available in Private Practice.
